It’s the highest, but not the tallest of the state capitols! The building is on ground that’s about one mile above sea level (and mighty far from the sea, I might add). The building itself is 276 feet tall, and there are 10 capitols taller than that! In fact, if you stacked all the other 49 state capitols on top of the Denver capitol (don’t try this at home, kids), they would be almost four times taller than the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world’s tallest building!
