Another cycling sort of day
It used to be that processing photographs involved a lot of running around. We’d take the film to the photo lab to be developed & printed, we’d drop by the camera store to pick up some more film, and then, maybe a day or so later, go get the finished film and prints and deliver them to the client.
Sometimes (since I had my own lab) I would go into the darkroom and spend time there making enlargements.
The digital age changed all of that. Now, after the photo shoot, I’ve got many hours of sorting through images to pick the best and then adjusting color and contrast, touching out dust and other imperfections and uploading them to my web server for my clients to view. This involves hours and sometimes days of sitting at a computer and it gets old fast! The 21st century photographer not only has to know all the rules of composition, the tricks of lighting, the science of exposure and the ins and outs of his (or her) equipment, but he (or she) must also be a computer whiz, providing back-up and redundancy for images (in case of drive failure) and having proficiency in a variety of programs as well as basic HTML (to tweak web sites).
Whew! Sometimes one just has to get outside and get some exercise! Today, with the temperature in the mid 50’s, was the perfect opportunity to do just that. Can you guess where I went? Hmm?
