Art Hill adventure
My meeting was over before 10 pm (held at a secret location near Washington and Union) and since Forest Park was between me and home (another secret location near Mitchell and McCausland), I reckoned I might as well go home through the park.
Good thing I had my camera with me! All of that glorious snow made me feel quite niveous! I puttered around the Muny for a few photos that I wasn’t very impressed with, before I rolled by the Grand Basin to see what I could catch there. Most of the basin was frozen hard and people were walking on it (shrieking the entire time). I watched to see if any of them were going to fall in, but no one did ;(
Then I saw it. A fire on Art Hill. That could only mean one thing: sledders! I hefted my tripod (I just happened to have that along as well) and went up the hill to check out the action up there.
About three dozen enthusiastic young people were racing down the hill and then trudging back up (some of them were only trying to race down the hill, but all of them were trudging back up). I watched, took photos, got in the way, had some narrow escapes, took more photos, huddled by the fire, lay on my belly to get the right angle, huddled by the fire again and then came home to post the photos. Fun!
