Just can’t leave ‘em alone
I may have said this already, but leaves fascinate me. Each has the pattern of its tree on it, yet probably no two are exactly alike. Seas of them lie under the trees of the park, crackling underfoot or rustling as I wade through them, kicking a few into the air just for the fun of it (you ought to try it, it’s immensely satisfying). I see quite a few lying forlornly in the wetness on a day such as today. Some of them, perhaps out of some sort of vegetable desperation, hitch a ride on my shoes (though just what sort of selective role this would play in the evolution of the species, I really don’t know - perhaps the spontaneous generation of some shoe leather and tree leaf hybrid that will drop on our heads in the fall and kick us out of the park?).
But everyday I learn something new. Today I find that Union general Franz Siegel was executed in 1906. Perhaps for cowardice, who knows. Photos.
