Art fun
Sunday afternoon is the time to take your children to the Art Museum for the Family Day activity (if you don’t have any children, borrow some and get in touch with your own inner child). Every Sunday afternoon, from 1 to 4, there is a hands-on art activity (with a different theme every month) in the main hall of the museum. All the materials you need will be provided, so you have only to show up and exercise your creative talents.
Today I went with the Smith* family and their children Ebenezer, Matilda, Oceola, Gertrude, Zedidiah, Albert and Joe*. We had a great time - the children decorated their Japanese fans (made in China) and I took photos. Needless to say (so why, I wonder, am I saying it), they were extremely well behaved, even after we left the museum and went out on Art Hill to enjoy the beautiful weather. While we were running up and down the hill, we met Peter and Heidi and their dog Molly (a good natured beast able to walk on her hind legs and shake hands with either front paw).
Today, I limited myself to one camera (I usually have three) and two bright lenses; a wide angle and a normal lens. I use this combination when I want to shoot in low light (if you’re the technical sort, I was shooting with a 28mm f1.8 and 50mm f1.4 on my Canon 5D camera set to ISO 1600 for the indoor photos). These lenses force me to get in close to the subject and interact a bit, increasing the fun.
Oh, and did I mention we had a glorious sky? Here.
*It’s entirely possible that these are not their real names
