Ready for the rainbow
It certainly seems as if it’s going to rain and rain and rain and rain (we hope not forty days and forty nights)! Forest Park is now America’s soggiest urban park. I took my son Austen with me (he was off school for Good Friday) and we watched the swallows swarm over the Grand Basin and P-D Lake (Barn Swallows, Tree Swallows and Northern Rough Winged Swallows). We spotted a duck that I can’t identify and watched as two Northern Flickers duked it out by the boat house. It’s amazing how there is always something to see there in the Queen of America’s urban parks!
In between all of this bird action, we slogged through puddles and mud, dodged streams of water that flowed along every path and generally got wet. Here’s what we found there.
