Warm smiles on a cold day
St. Louis is a friendly town. All you have to do is smile at people and they smile right back. This is Star, who was introducing her dog Coco to the concept of sitting on command (Interesting enough, there was a mini van at the bottom of that same hill with the logo of a dog training service called “Sit means sit” on it). I also met Will and Jessica, who work for Forest Park Forever. The rest of the few people I met were going by too fast or too far away to respond to my smile (or maybe they were avoiding it).
If the goal is to meet people, though, a warmer day would have worked better. Still, today is always more available than tomorrow, so I did what I could. The Coot, Purple Martin and Green Heron I found by accident, as I did the Great Blue Heron (perhaps it could be said he found me). The swallows were moving too fast for me to follow, so I just watched them for a while. I don’t know the story of the egg; I just found it in the grass by P-D Lake. Here are the rest of the photos.
