Compass Points
Tuesday, I started my Forest Park ramble from Tamm Avenue in the south, yesterday from Kingshighway and Childrens Place on the east side of the park (I had just delivered a presentation poster that I printed to the Washington University Medical Center), so today I thought I’d start from the west just to change things around a bit (the west side is also closer to my humble abode and I was on my bicycle).
Walking toward the light (yesterday) in the late afternoon is almost heavenly experience - everything is backlit, haloed by the sun’s pure gold. But you’ve also got a lot of glare with the sun in your eyes like that. So, today I went the other way. It is much easier to to see things with the sun behind you (and harder for things to see you, unless you overshadow them).
So, I saw butterflies (they require some real work to capture on the old silicon chips), golfers, scores of sparrows flitting from one place to another (they like to sit in places that auto focus systems don’t like to focus on), an owl or four, some new friends (silver) and the glories of a fading light. I put them all into a box, just for you. I hope you like them!
