Man and nature
Today no one wants to talk to me. The people I meet avoid eye contact, or keep conversation to a minimum. I ask a fisherman if the fish are biting, but he is more concerned about me walking too close to his gear (I almost stepped on a float). As I stand next to the stone bridge in the SE corner of the park, a man approaches. I introduce myself (his name is Eric) and he says a few things to me, but most of his conversation is with beings that I can’t detect. His right arm flaps up and down against his leg as he sits on the wall and watches the water. Eric asks me to leave (I think he was talking to me) so I wander off to see what’s across the road.
An electrical box across from the Medical Center is missing a cover (probably stolen to sell for scrap) - I suspect those wires are live, so I pass quickly and continue north along the eastern edge of the park. Traffic flows along Forest Park Parkway, going in and out of the park (but only to get somewhere else). I cross the Metrolink tracks on the rusty bridge and descend to the Victorian footbridge that marks one of the original entrances to the park. I think I’m ready for a nap. Photos here.
