Early
My friend Don came by my place at 6 this morning (which certainly seemed early to me)! The plan was to get over to Forest Park in time to catch the sunrise and witness the early morning events in the lives of the bird population there. We arrived on Owl Hill and immediately spotted Sarah, the mother Great Horned Owl, but couldn’t find Art or Mo, the two owlets (Charles, Sarah’s mate, it turned out, was snoozing in his favorite conifer).
In a short time Art turned up and badgered his mother for food (REAL food, as one of my teenagers would put it). We got some interesting photos of the two of them together and a few of Art by himself before we wandered to a different spot in the park to view a hawks nest I’d been told of.
Don hauled his huge lens on a tripod and I was glad I was traveling light. Bird Warning: the following photos contain the likeness of birds! May cause reaction in those allergic to images of birds!
