100! A Magic Number!
Today marks my 100th day in Forest Park! In that time, I’ve seen a lot of animals (coyote, muskrats, opossum, rabbits, squirrels, turtles, frogs and fish), almost fifty species of birds (they’ve even got their own page), and lots of interesting people (my favorite kind of creature).
Today it seemed as if I had the entire park to myself. I parked near the boathouse as I wanted to see if I could find Mo, the wandering owlet, but when I couldn’t I just kept on going. I did notice that the rain didn’t seem to faze the birds at all. I saw ducks everywhere, starlings, robins, red-winged blackbirds, egrets, a green heron, doves, a killdeer and plenty of swallows, dipping and diving over Post-Dispatch Lake. I was just beginning to feel a bit on the lonely side when a group of joggers appeared. They were wet, or perhaps soaked would be a better way of putting it!
And speaking of soaked, by the time I got home after a few hours in Forest Park, my shoes were sloshing! Take a look at what a photographer finds when he goes walking in the rain - with his cameras.
