Day 128 - a year in Forest Park

- documentary photography & writing by Edward Crim, St. Louis

Lazy afternoon

Now today was a good day for doin’ nuthin’. If you had been sittin’ of the dock of a bay you could have been watchin’ the tide slip away. Sunbathers were scattered around the park, friends strolled beside the waterways and young couples held hands and eyed each other.

I, on the other hand, was busy looking for photographs. The damselflies and water striders were not letting me get very close and the turtles and birds seemed just as standoffish. I did manage to find a few of the smaller park dwellers, though. I had actually given up for the day and was headed up to Art Hill to check on the progress of the Shakespeare Festival’s stage preparations (This year’s play is The Merry Wives of Windsor) when I saw a man with a violin and decided to stop and snap a few photos (though normally I don’t condone violins). Alas, he packed his instrument away (gotta be fast!) before I could get any, but I did manage to get a great sequence with Mr. Green (pictured above).  Check it out!
