Return to the world of the small
Out once more with Austen (my favorite 15 y.o. son), we put on our close-up lenses (I did, at least) and again slipped into the world of the small. This time, our small quest was in the Kennedy Savannah and Forest, on the opposite end of Forest Park from yesterday. There are strange and ferocious looking things here on our planet. Things so small we can go a lifetime and never know they are there. Tiny mushrooms smaller then the tip of a finger; iridescent spiders and flies; delicate flowers so little we only see a spot of color.
These sorts of things, of course, require a bit of flexibility in a photographer, a willingness to associate with the lowly (see above photo), a very sharp eye and a lot of patience. The macro lenses I use (on my modern digital cameras) are about 30 years old, having been designed for a 35 mm camera system and bought by me quite some time ago in Previously Owned Condition. But they do work!
