Queen Ann’s Lace and Daisies
My friend Jean Miller had the most gorgeous hair in my high school. I think it was because she washed it so often. In fact, the first time I asked her out, she told me she had to wash her hair the very evening in question. And I believed her.
We were good friends, however, and when we were in college used to wander the mountains of western Virginia together, where she would pick Daisies and Queen Ann’s Lace while I shot roll after roll of Kodachrome (I still have all those photos). I photographed Jean’s wedding way back when. She marched down the aisle to Ravel’s Bolero (I thought it would go on forever) and married Michael, a really nice fellow who also happened to be much better looking than I (and much handier). So today, when I saw all that Queen Ann’s Lace in the Steinberg wild area, I thought of Jean, whose current occupation is setting the world straight on French Adjectives (it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it). Today’s photos are for you, Jean Marie.
