Day 167 - a year in Forest Park

- photography & writing by Edward Crim, St. Louis

A new spot

Today I rose to new heights in my Forest Park quest by climbing the square hill between Hampton Ave and the Park Rangers headquarters. Standing up there with the chicory and other weeds I felt on top of the world (you have to understand that Missouri is just not a tall place, so we take our mountaintop experiences whereever we can)!

It rained earlier in the day (a LOT), and everything around me was either soggy or muddy. Austen and I wandered around for a few hours, past the park headquarters, the Mounted Police building (it used to be an airplane hangar), around Bowl Lake, Jefferson Lake and across the Triple A golf course. We saw some friends passing by in their Volvo, but other than that, things were rather quiet in the park today. Here’s what we found.
