Water everywhere!
Wetness is the price we pay for green (though I’d like my basement better if it weren’t so green). Forest Park is a great place to splash. You can splash in the puddles, you can splash in the streams. You can splash in the ponds, and you can even splash in the fountains (though you may get yelled at by a park ranger).
Today, all of the animals that like water were very happy; there was plenty of it. I didn’t mind too much, I had an umbrella with me (though parts of me still got wet when I sat down to see my subject better). It was very crowded by the Zoo (though not as bad as yesterday), but in front of the world’s fair pavilion there was plenty of space to park. I drove over since it’s hard to carry an umbrella on a bicycle (if I try it again I promise to post some photos). It was an interesting ramble. There were people lurking in cars with the motors running, there were mysterious looking holes in trees. There were water lilies everywhere, and I startled a large family of ducks from under the Lafayette Bridge.
Rain
I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.
I step very softly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand--
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said--
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.
