Swift water
I set out for Forest Park this afternoon on my 1975 vintage bicycle, but when I saw those big black clouds rollin’ in from the west (thanks a lot, K.C.), I turned for home to get some transport less likely to get me soaked. It was a good thing, too, as the deluge was not far apres moi. In just a few minutes the entire park was inundated and flowing. Streams flowed over their banks, roads became streams, the lakes and waterways of Forest Park quickly rose to flood stage and stayed that way for quite some time.
I had found refuge and something of a vantage point in the Worlds Fair Pavilion, and there I stayed for the better part of half an hour. It was at the end of that time I noticed my phone missing. I found it in the rainy parking lot a few minutes later, but needless to say, it wasn’t in the best of working order (that’s why I haven’t returned your calls today, just in case you were wondering). I took the loss in stride, though, and headed off to another part of the park for a few more photos. Then it was home for me, where my daughter was busy working on a special wedding anniversary dinner for my wife and myself. So, you ask, how long’s it been? 29 years, I reply (and thanks for asking, by the way). 29 good years - here’s to 29 more! Photos.
