Day 255 - a year in Forest Park

Fly the flag

Today is the 8th anniversary of the attack on our nation by muslim extremists that destroyed the World Trade Center. It was one of those moments that is etched into our hearts and will not be forgotten. For me, it ranks with the day President Kennedy was murdered. But today, while a solemn day, was not a sad day. There was a large crowd in the upper Muny parking lot, marching for the fight against leukemia, celebrating the survivors of that deadly disease, and remembering loved ones lost to it. Balloons were everywhere, but so were smiles, laughter and talk. We Americans are, fundamentally, a people of hope, generous with each other and eager to help those in need (that should make you proud).

I was eager to help myself to some of the paw paw fruit from the tree that I discovered on the east side of the park. I picked up a few last week and they were delicious, so I’ve been thinking all day about going and getting some more (I had to spend most of today catching up on paperwork). As I made my way around the park today I came across some interesting people and got some good photos. Here you go.
