Day 273 - a year in Forest Park

On crowds

I used to hate being in a crowd. Over the years, though, as I have grown fonder  of my species, I’ve developed the habit of looking at the individuals in a group. I find I like what I see in the mass of humanity.

Today’s adventure started on the Metrolink. I rode back and forth from the Forest Park station (just one block north of the History Museum) to the Central West End station (one block east of the park), trying to get a different sort of view of the park (and use the three tickets I have that expire on the 30th). It is a different view indeed, but for all of the park that’s lost to the train and Forest Park Parkway, little is gained in terms of view. And the trains were rather crowded (impressive for a system that doesn’t really go anywhere). I did see my friends Justin and Dan, who were headed to New York via Lambert airport.

Back at the History Museum, the next to last Twilight Tuesday concert was starting up, complete with traffic snarl. I slipped in and out and moseyed through the building looking at it anew. Back outside as the motown sound rolled over the swaying, dancing crowd, I picked my way through looking for photos (that’s when Grace nabbed me and forced me to take her picture). The traffic was still going strong as I wandered over towards the central parking lot and made my way home. See for yourself.
