We reached Augusta after the capitol had closed for the day, but well before sunset. This peaceful place may well have become my favorite of all the state capitols. The front of the building boasts a spacious veranda thoughtfully provided with rocking chairs. It commands a great view to the east of the city and immediately overlooks a charmingly rustic park.
